June 23 Rawlins, Wyoming to Ogallala Nebraska

Good evening, it is currently 82 here and it is 9:03.  We drove for 5 1/2 hours today.  We are definitely taking our trip during this first trip to Ohio from California.

On our trip today we saw some kind of factory just outside of Rawlins and at 8:25 passed Medicine Bow River which is beautiful.  

The flag you see is at a Camping World store.  (No we did not stop there).  Some of the things we see we just come upon, snap a quick picture and enjoy the moment.  

We crossed into Nebraska at 10:45 and the green ball atop the tower is the world headquarters for Cabela's.  We stopped for a break at Road 209 and it was 93 degrees.  We believe the statue is President Lincoln.  The fences you have seen before as they are to block the snow being blown onto the roadway.

We have noticed that the rest areas we have stopped at in Wyoming and Nebraska are very nice.  They are clean, decorative, informative and some have an employee at the visitor center.

Our highest elevation today was 8,520' in Laramie, Wyoming

Tonight we are at a KOA in Ogallala and have a great spot as you will see in the last few photos.

Hello, we left bright and early this morning from Bethel Island, CA and drove 7 hours and 11 minutes to land in Winnemucca, NV.  We are staying at the Model T Casino & RV Park.  The RV park is your basic cement parking lot with complete hooks ups which is a bonus.  We ate dinner at the restaurant in the casino and the food was delicious. The scenery on the way here was mountainous.  I have attached some pictures of us,  the drive up, our set up and the Model T Casino. June 25 Shelby, Iowa to Peoria, Illinois

Hello, we drove a little further than planned today and ended up at a beautiful campground in a most excellent space that looks out at the Peoria River.  The photos you will see first are of our view and campsite because it is amazing.  Plus we watched a lightening storm across the river....watched it come this way on the radar....watched the neighbors putting away their chairs and table....when Scott says we should put our stuff away...and no sooner did we set our book and drinks in the trailer did the wind begin.  We got the chairs and table put away just in time before the pouring rain, thunder and lightening started.  We watched the storm from inside our trailer with all the lights out. I was able to capture the compass with a lightening bolt across the app. Our drove from Iowa to Illinois was once again filled with water towers, lush green fields of corn, silos, the Mississippi River, wind turbine props in transport and the Rock River.       ...

July 8, 2022 - A day around Eastern Tennessee

 Today we drove around Knoxville driving by five houses we had been watching on Zillow.  We crossed off four of them, liked the last one that we saw - it is now pending a sale.  Houses are going fast here.  Lots of new residential and commercial building in all of Tennessee. We took the scenic route to lunch as the navigation system said we would save 3 minutes.  Never again will we save 3 minutes to drive on the windy roads!   Abby and I do not do well on windy roads. The scenery is beautiful though.  For lunch we ate at Cooke Dough Monster Burgers and Shakes.  I had a grilled cheese pepperoni sandwich as you will see in the picture. Abby had cheese curds that were too spicy for all of us.  All of their cookies had been baked and sold.  You could buy balls of cookie dough to eat but you had to buy a minimum of four.  We passed on that and Abby had vanilla ice cream on a waffle cone.  I know, I know, I passed on cookie dou...
