June 24 Ogallala, Nebraska to Shelby, Iowa

Image
Another day in the books, literally, as we keep a log of all the campsites we stay in.  We started this book before we left on this trip.   Again, the photos are out of order and I will continue to work on putting the photos in order of our drive.  Regardless of this, the photos are beautiful.  The countryside is vast, green, lush, open and beautiful.  So many corn fields, bodies of water, industrial parks, homes that are just placed here and there along the freeway.  We are soaking up the U.S. of A. When we arrived in Iowa this afternoon the temperature was 82 and the humidity was 70.  Not as humid as Ogallala.  It is now raining in Ogallala. We found a Jimmy John's in Iowa and Scott was so happy.                                                               ...

June 23 Rawlins, Wyoming to Ogallala Nebraska

Good evening, it is currently 82 here and it is 9:03.  We drove for 5 1/2 hours today.  We are definitely taking our trip during this first trip to Ohio from California. On our trip today we saw some kind of factory just outside of Rawlins and at 8:25 passed Medicine Bow River which is beautiful.   The flag you see is at a Camping World store.  (No we did not stop there).  Some of the things we see we just come upon, snap a quick picture and enjoy the moment.   We crossed into Nebraska at 10:45 and the green ball atop the tower is the world headquarters for Cabela's.  We stopped for a break at Road 209 and it was 93 degrees.  We believe the statue is President Lincoln.  The fences you have seen before as they are to block the snow being blown onto the roadway. We have noticed that the rest areas we have stopped at in Wyoming and Nebraska are very nice.  They are clean, decorative, informative and some have an employee at the vi...

June 22 Coalville, Utah to Rawlin, Wyoming

Today today today! What a great drive.  We saw so much:  red rock mountains, drove over the Continental Divide, hit the  Great Plains, saw lots of snow on the mountains, saw cool rock formations in Green River and stopped at Little America for a $.75 soft serve cone.  Delicious :)   We saw wind turbines, a leaning cabin, and these fences along the freeway that helps to keep the snow from blowing onto the road.  Once we arrived in Rawlins we went exploring and stopped at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. Over the last three days we have been amazed that there is so much open space, beautiful green mountains, and endless open ranges.   Enjoy and take care, Scott and Karen apologies that the photos are not always in order......
